DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Communications Officer and guidance of the Communications Manager, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  1. Design creative and engaging still and animated graphics, videos and other digital content for various WHO platforms and dissemination mechanisms in the Region (website, social media, presentations, etc.);
  2. Design other communications and advocacy material such as posters, banners and brochures when required;
  3. Support video production on set (e.g. handling teleprompter, production gofer, videographer, or floor director, as required) and videos post-production (editing, graphics, etc.);
  4. Act as COM focal point for the web presence of WHO in the Region, in close coordination with the Information Technology Group (ITG) and technical divisions and with Communications and IT focal points in country offices and Headquarters. This involves participating in web working group meetings, uploading stories, images, videos, and documents to the website homepage and media centre, Intranet and YouTube channel, and proactively reaching out to technical units and country offices to ensure content on the areas of the website for which they are responsible is engaging and up-to-date;
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of digital strategy (social media and website) by staying abreast of developments and regularly analyzing web and social media statistics;
  6. Support country offices and technical units in the Regional Office with video productions by providing constructive feedback on scripts, storyboards, and draft videos;
  7. Take photographs and shoot videos at WPRO events, and coordinate closely with external suppliers, as required;
  8. Enhance and edit images, while coordinating closely with the Information Products and Service unit (IPS) which manages the WPRO multimedia library, to ensure descriptive cataloguing, appropriate selection and classification of photos, videos and other audio-visual material; and
  9. Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education, with training or experience in the use of design, editing and web publishing software and in the use of equipment for shooting, editing and transmitting video and still photos.
Desirable: University degree in communications, design, visual arts or related area.

Experience

Essential: At least five years’ experience in multimedia, audiovisual or related field, preferably with a large international organization.

Desirable: Experience working in the UN.

Essential: Expert knowledge of English.
