Key Responsibilities

Developing and delivering CAFOD’s content strategy

* Update and implement CAFOD’s content strategy and plan, working alongside international staff, national offices and partner staff as well as supporter-facing and communications teams in England and Wales to identify the strongest stories and gather content that supports CAFOD’s priority messages.

* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to establish which content to use when, and on which channel to help achieve engagement, advocacy and fundraising targets

* Ensure a list of priority countries and content commissions is planned annually, facilitating this process through cross-organisational groups.

* Lead CAFOD’s cross-organisational group – the content working group including chairing monthly meeting and being first point of call for content opportunities and requests.

* Work with the creative account manager and communications planner to understand briefs and CAFOD’s channel marketing plan to learn which content is more successful in reaching targets. Pull on data and wider research from the sector and beyond.

Sourcing, commissioning and procuring content

* Commission and manage content from both CAFOD’s overseas programmes and England and Wales including hiring, managing and building relationships with overseas freelancers, working with national offices and partner organisations;

* Promote content to internal stakeholders including pointing people to strongest stories by sending regular content emails and ensuring CAFOD’s content database, Storyhub is up to date;

* Source appropriate content from CAFOD’s sister agencies and partners overseas, to be repurposed for CAFOD’s use;

* Manage CAFOD’s communications consent policy, updating consent forms and processes as required, providing guidance to staff.

Managing our content collection training programme

Manage relationships with priority country teams and partner organisations  and identify communications training needs and ensure adequate training and support is delivered.

* Establish and develop a network of community reporters to enable consistent and personal sharing of stories and day-to-day experiences from specific individuals overseas.

All CAFOD staff share responsibility to promote and maintain a strong safeguarding culture, including identifying the key actions they should take given their role and responsibilities.

Essential competencies

* Ability to spot good fundraising and media stories that will provoke an emotional reaction with a UK-based audience, as well as raise income based on audience research and data evaluations

* Proven experience in influencing and dealing with competing priorities from multiple stakeholders, facilitating a shared understanding

* Proven experience in project management with multiple stakeholders and developing complex plans

* Experience in interviewing and gathering visual content including photos and film

Desirable Criteria

* Experience of working with photographers, film makers and story-tellers, particularly those based overseas

*Willingness to travel overseas for up to 4 weeks a year and ability to work in diverse and challenging conditions

* Experience working with content management systems.
