(INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANTS FOR TRADE FINANCE OPERATIONS)

  1. The African Development Bank seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified individual consultants to provide credit delivery support to the Trade Finance Division of the Financial Sector Development Department, working on the evaluation of eligible project proposals, as well as on internal review and processing of related lending transactions. The position will be based in Centurion, South Africa.
  1. The assignment will include but is not limited to: (i) Participation in the planning and execution of project identification missions in selected regional member countries (RMCs) in the specific sectors in which the Bank is active (ii) Participation in preliminary evaluation of project proposals to assess their feasibility for financial assistance and/or technical assistance (TA) support by the Bank, (iii) Participation in the planning and execution of appraisal and fact-finding missions (iv) Preparation of project appraisal reports for presentation to the Bank’s various review committees (v) Participation in due diligence missions and negotiation of financial documentation, initiate & participate in knowledge management and learning activities on trade finance, and contribute to dissemination activities such as conferences, workshops and learning programs (vi) The incumbent will also provide administrative support on approved projects, as well as draft evaluation reports to assess the expected versus actual attainment of program objectives, outputs and outcomes of various completed projects.
  1. The Financial Sector Department hereby invites suitably qualified individual consultants to submit their interest in providing the services described above. The minimum educational level required will be a Masters’ degree in Business Administration/Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance or relavant discipline. The ideal candidate is expected to have at least 6 years’ relevant experience spanning structured trade and commodity finance, corporate banking, transactional corporate finance in a commercial, investment or development bank environment. Familiarity with markets in the COMESA/SADC regions and a deep understanding of the banking sector in these countries is critical. The incumbent must be proficient in MS Office suite and should be fluent in English while a working knowledge of French would be considered an asset. Interested consultants are required to provide information on their capacity and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (CVs, description of similar assignments, etc.) – please see Annex I for the proposed template.
  1. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the Bank’s Rules and Procedures for the Use of Corporate Consultants. The AfDB is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.
  1. This assignment will have an initial duration of 12 months and the Consultant is expected to be based in Centurion, South Africa. The commencement date is planned for the 16th of August 2021.
