Job description

The Transparency, Integrity and Accountability Programme (TIP) supports state and non-state actors to contribute towards the implementation of the South Africa’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy in a whole-of-government and societal manner. Corruption Watch (CW) is a lead partner of the TIP and also the Transparency International chapter. CW has recently gone through a leadership change and has substantial capacity seconded to the Presidential National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council. CW has achieved another milestone with its 10-year anniversary in 2022. The organisation needs to shift into a mature way of working where internal systems and processes function optimally in a high performing environment. The purpose of the position is to support executive and senior management in CW to improve its internal processes and structures to meet the high demand and expectations of its constituency and anti-corruption stakeholder landscape in South Africa in line with the overall operational and strategic objectives of the organisation.

Your tasks

As part of your service as a development worker, you will take on the following tasks:

  • Analysing and advising on the organizational structures and processes within CW and how synergies, capacity and internal communication and collaboration can be developed and enhanced to support high performance;
  • Combining work experience in consulting in the public or civil society sectors with proven experience in organisational development ;
  • Review operational structures and recommend design improvements to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness;
  • Design and recommend structural and process changes, draft standard operating procedures and facilitate change management;
  • Review and input into enhancing existing knowledge management systems to ensure data analysis is supporting CW’s strategic and operational objectives;
  • Review whether CW outputs are meeting the expectations of its constituency and partners including in the areas of whistleblowing and public procurement reform, and recommend changes;
  • Assist with the ongoing review of operational and strategic plans and facilitate the development a new future vision for CW in South Africa.

Your profile

  • Academic background or qualification in organizational design, industrial psychology, social or political sciences;
  • Combining work experience in consulting in the public or civil society sectors with proven experience in organisational development, process review and design, and knowledge management preferable in the civil society space;
  • Moderation, facilitation and training skills, with a good understanding of adult learning as well as conflict mediation;
  • Inter-cultural sensitivity, positive working attitude and strong people-skills, ability to work under high pressure and in an integrative manner;
  • Intrinsic motivation to be part of a civil society movement to fight endemic corruption in South Africa, regional or country specific context knowledge or experience is an asset;
  • Strong communication and drafting skills using multimedia tools and various software, digital affinity and data analytical skills will be an asset;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams and for senior decision makers;
  • Business fluent English.
