The African Union Development Agency-NEPAD has received financing from the African Development Bank toward the cost of the African Agri-Business Engine, and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for a Consultancy services for Client matchmaking for building targeted value chain farm to fork alliances in 5 countries (Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania) in Potatoes, Rice, Soybeans, Horticulture and Sunflower value chains, respectively.

The services included under this consultancy are described below :

  1. Establish five (5) national value chain Multi-Stakeholder Platforms in the five project countries and value chains, including facilitating legal, office, systems, administrative requirements ;
  2. Develop value chain platform investment roadmaps for self-sufficiency and value add in alignment with existing National Agricultural Investment Plans or Country Agribusiness Partnership Framework Business Plans ;
  3. Identify all relevant financial and technical partners and develop concrete and strategic partnerships to support activation of pipeline investment cases generated by AABE ;
  4. Develop a preliminary database of financial and technical partners that could potentially be matched to different needs of the pipeline ;
  5. Organise at least 3 matchmaking events for investment pipeline projects to connect with potential funders and partners ;
  6. Facilitate at least 10 pipeline projects into business deals and showcase them at global investment forums.

The assignment will be undertaken in the following five countries: Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda and Tanzania, and will last 06 months. The estimated starting date is June 1, 2021.

The African Union Development Agency-NEPAD now invites eligible consultant firms to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Framework for Bank Group-funded Operations, October 2015 edition.which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
