Job Description

ACTIVITES
In order to support Total’s ambition in offshore wind, the Offshore wind business development team needs to be reinforced. The Junior business developer will support Head of Development US on specific deals :

  • Adhere to and effectively communicate the project HSE policy.
  • Follow up the engineering budget and program for specific projects and Develop DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX estimations.
  • Prepare technical and engineering decisions to be made.
  • Work with other parts of the project team to establish the design basis (geotechnical investigations, metocean data, wind data, bathymetry etc.).
  • Contribute tender documents, define scopes of engineering studies, coordinating tenders and following up contracts for specific engineering tasks.
  • Follow up of engineering studies.
  • In charge of reporting & progress control and expediting of deliverables & technical queries.
  • Draft tender responses where required.
  • Carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position.

Context and environment

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
In order to support Total’s ambition in offshore wind, the offshore wind team needs to be reinforced. The project engineer will be supporting Total’s growth of offshore wind activities, within a wider task force of professionals coming from the offshore wind and Exploration and Production business.  The project engineer will be recruited for the project team based in the US.

MISSIONS
The project engineer will be part of Total’s offshore wind team. The main focus of the role will be engineering and design support during the bid, auction and development phases of floating and bottom fixed offshore wind projects, in order to ensure competitiveness of bids (design to tariff) and identify reliable floating offshore wind solutions. In the medium term the role might include engineering management for pre-FID projects.

Candidate profile

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • This role would suit a degree qualified engineer with a minimum of 5 years working experience, the candidate will be a generalist. The candidate should have some experience in contract and subcontractor management. Knowledge of the offshore wind industry is not essential but would be advantageous; at least experience of large renewable project would be needed.
  • The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,
  • The technical skills to understand complex offshore operations and the ability to exchange with and understand subject experts,
  • Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
