Project Overview and Role:

The Australian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), has committed to deepen education links between Australia and the Pacific, providing scholarships to students from up to nine Pacific island countries to study their senior high school years in Australia.

The Pacific Secondary Schools Scholarships Program (PSSSP) provides selected scholarship recipients with the opportunity for a high-quality Australian education and practical youth leadership development to prepare them for their own future in higher education, training or employment, and to contribute to the economic and social development of their own countries.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The key duties and responsibilities of the position include: ensuring P-SCHOLAR is accessible to all necessary staff and functioning effectively; submission of reports outlining key outcomes in the Scholarship program cycle; and close liaison with the program team to ensure operational data is accurate and submitted on a timely basis.

  • Develop a sound understanding of P-SCHOLAR with a specific reference to the functionality associated applications, selections and mobilisation and completion of the scholarship.
  • Prepare P-Scholar ‘How to Guides’ and train the team on using P-SCHOLAR.
  • Develop and distribute reports from P-SCHOLAR that support the management of the PSSSP cycle i.e. application updates, compliance management reports.
  • Use contemporary ways of presenting data for program quarterly reports and other program reports as requested by DFAT.
  • Undertake the scholarship moderation activities in close liaison with Deputy Team Leader – Scholarships and DFAT.
    Liaise with the broader team to ensure that operational data is submitted accurately and in a timely fashion for management reports
  • Ensure client confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential at all times, and maintain the integrity of any data which contains Personally Identifiable Information

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant area (Such as IT, Data Science, Programming, etc)
  • Strong experience in managing data systems
  • Highly advanced computer skills especially Excel
  • Demonstrated experience working with large databases
  • Ability to interpret data, to identify and analyse problems and offer solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to prepare data collection instruments, analyse and summarise data and interpret results for the benefit of program improvement
