About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Policy and Advocacy Associate to support GAIN Bangladesh policy and advocacy work. This role will be offered on fixed-term contract of up to 3 years’, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

To strengthen GAIN Bangladesh’s policy and advocacy work and its ability to engage with and influence national and sub-national policy processes with a food systems approach with specific focus on different food, nutrition, health, social safety net, environment related national priorities and commitments. GAIN Bangladesh works to support healthier and diets to ensure a sustainable, equitable and resilient food systems for all through program and policy implementation in Bangladesh.

The Policy and Advocacy Associate will support the engagement and development of relationships with government, private sector, networks, academia, youth, individuals and the community. The role plays a key part in the delivery of GAIN’s policy and influencing strategy and to achieve advocacy and influencing goals.

About You

The ideal candidate should have proven experience working in an environment requiring collaboration and liaising with government stakeholders, relevant industries, and international organizations. You should have strong technical knowledge of public health and nutrition, including micronutrient deficiency control. Also, you should have understanding or experience in nutrition policy formulation and implementation as well as technical knowledge of health systems. Candidate with experience in international NGO is an advantage.

The postholder should have excellent communication skills and fluent in written and spoken English and Bangla. Also, you should be willing to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment and willing to travel in challenging environments.

You should have strong data analysis skills and the ability to conduct desk research, literature reviews, and other research analysis and synthesize findings. Candidates will ideally have a bachelors’ in Agriculture, Economics, Business Management or related fields or an equivalent qualification.

Key Responsibilities include
  • Supporting in planning and preparation for high level meetings, events, trips; provide tangible inputs in prepare reports and follow-up
  • Supporting the Project Manager- Policy, Food Systems on stakeholder engagement and management
  • Maintaining regular communication with stakeholders (networking, follow-up and liaison)
  • Preparing draft briefs, slide decks, and engage in other content development support (inputs/notes requested by government partners/stakeholders, developing first drafts on publication drafts etc.)
  • Facilitating translation of policy decisions into tasks and projects and ensure their effective and timely implementation
  • Conducting desk research, literature reviews, and other research analysis
  • Coordinating data, conduct data analysis & synthesize findings for reports, briefs, and support in follow up with government and other stakeholders
About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 1,172,004 – BDT 1,340,892 per annum, depending on experience.
