Save the Children recruits a Project Officer – Child Protection  (200003BL) in Lashio

Key areas of accountabiliy

Program Delivery

  • Provide  capacity building workshops to community, CSOs, Para Social Workers and children on child protection and case management
  • Organize and conduct awareness raising on child protection in the target areas for ensure report on child protection concern in timely manner.
  • Responsible to enhance the quality in the implementation of case management work, including understanding and use of tools and processes to ensure full compliance with the SOPs and case management Minimum Standards in country
  • Ensure that the Case Management system is functional and follow the SOP and guidelines to ensure (and staff where required) fill in correctly the case management forms, databases, and other tools
  • Provide feedback to the Program Manager and the CPiE Advisor in terms of needs for capacity building
  • Support the case management  and the data base teams  in their daily work
  • Organize the case review meetings and case conferences, to discuss challenging cases, ensure timely follow up, and that all systems are functional
  • Liaise and collaborate with other Case Management  actors as required
  • In coordination with the Programme Manager and Case Management  specialist participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the program
  • Coordinate with various service providers to ensure the fulfilment of what the beneficiary needs.
  • Ensure proper follow ups, and have face-to-face interactions with the beneficiary, and other parties involved.
  • Collaborate with Department of Social Welfare staff and other key stakeholders of assigned at target areas  in management of the cases;
  • Conduct regular meetings and reviews with CSOs- para social workers to accommodate lessons learned and good practices;
  • Assist the Programme Manager in the timely, efficient and effective delivery of a high quality programme – focused on achieving safe and protective environment
  • Assist the Programme Manager in monitoring expenditure against budgets and the proper financial management of the programme by providing cost effective work plan regularly
  • Assist the Programme Manager for planning and reporting to member head offices and donors by providing qualitative report and case forms in timely manner Deputies for the Programme Manager if requested to do so, and perform other tasks as assigned by Programme Manager.

Program Management & Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Regularly visit project sites to ensure that teams are appropriately supported to organize awareness raisin on child protection and drive case management forward and ensure learning is documented and shared.
  • Provide timely inputs to programme and reports on case management project activities in compliance with internal Save the Children requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
  • Participate in MEAL activities and project capacity building activities, in coordination with Data base specialist case management, Case and partner st
  • Closely work with child protection staffs to cross check assigned township data and providing inputs as needed for data analysis and interpretation
  • Monitor and document the progress of project activities  in geographic area/s of assignmen
  •  Implement project activities in accordance with the detailed implementation plans and budgets
  • Effective coordination with the other sectors programmes Nutrition and WASH) Partner organizations and other UN, INGOs, which are implementing in the same funding and same area.

Communication

  • Ensurethat project related information are relayed to other Project Officers
  • Preparecommunication materials to partners/communities within implementation area.
  •     Workwith team to ensure the information relating to Save the Children and our activities are shared widely within communities, among partner organizations and other sectors integrated in this project in which we are working and provide for their participation and feedback in line with relevant guidelines and frameworks.
  • Ensurethat project related information are relayed to the partners.

Other

  • Prepareperiodic work plans with supervisor in a timely manner
  • Keeprecords of activities and report periodically on program progress with recommendations in a timely manner
  • Assistwith periodic and other reporting as necessary
  • Assistin documentation of process and impact of the program as needed.

 

Child Safeguarding Responsibility:

Ensure that all beneficiaries of your program are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

Job Requirements:

  • Atleast three years in implementing for programs development
  • Demonstratedskills and experience in child protection programming
  • Universitygraduate or equivalent experiences
  • Strong interpersonal andcommunity development skills
  • Goodwritten and spoken skills in local language (Shan, Ta’ang. Kachin).
  • Cooperatewith partner organizations
  • Excellentpersonal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Willingness totravel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
  • GoodSignificant people management skills/experience and proven ability to create an environment which encourages team-working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
  • Abilityto work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children
  • Commitment toand understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
  • Willingness andcapability to comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies, including the Child Safeguarding Policy
