For our Lobeke office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Mechanic Driver who will provide support to Finance & Administration Department activities.

Mission of the Department:

The mission of WWF CCPO JSEF is to ensure sustainable management of natural resources in Southeast Cameroon through participatory management practices involving all stakeholders and contributes to improving the living conditions of the local people. This includes (1) negotiation of macro-zoning plan (with protected area, forest and hunting concessions, agroforestry zone,…), (2) development of basic infrastructure and preparation of management plans for three protected areas (Lobeke, Boumba Bek and Nki) that cover 6,380km² of biologically important moist evergreen and semi-deciduous closed forest, with high densities of elephants, western lowland gorillas, chimpanzees and bongos, (3) support to concessionaries in the implementation of sustainable practices, and (4) assistance in setting in place Community Based Organizations to insure full participation of local population in natural resource management and the contribution of those resources to poverty alleviation.

Major functions:

The Mechanic Driver is responsible for the over all maintenance and technical follow up of the status of all program vehicles and motorbikes.

 Ensure the efficient and cost-effective maintenance and repair of the Lobeke National Park vehicles, motorbikes and engine boats.

Major duties:

  • Ensure reparation of all mechanical problems on all program vehicles whenever they are reported/recorded ;
  • Carry out periodic technical diagnostic (every 2 month) on all vehicles, motorcycles and engine boat  ;
  • Monitor and enforce rigorously the schedule of lubrifiant replacement in vehicles and motorbikes ;
  • Manage stocks of equipment, supplies and parts; maintain parts inventory ;
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas/fuel consumption, and assist with the annual vehicle and motorcycles inspection ;
  • Consolidate a monthly report and monitoring the quality of log book of vehicles and motorcycles Centralizes the control of vehicle parts, motorcycles and boat engine ;
  • Prepare a monthly report of the usage of spare parts ;
  • Drive project vehicle in missions ;
  • Draft maintenance plans and ensure their implementation ;
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various Lobeke National Park staff to ensure effective and efficient use, care and maintenance of the programme vehicles, motor bikes and engine boats.
  • Prepare maintenance and repair reports for submission to management ;
  • Evaluate ability of drivers, train drivers and other vehicle users ;
  • Ensure that WWF Rules and Regulations steps required by rules and regulations are taken in cases of any involvement in accidents ;
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Profile:

Required Qualifications  

  • Minimum of CAP in vehicle mechanics in diesel option;
  • Possess at least a category A, B and D driving license with prove experience in driving within forest area ;
  • 8 years working experience in mechanics;
  • Computer literate is an asset;
  • Fluency in French and English.

Working Relationships:

Internal – Collaborate with other key technical staff of the programme External – He has to work closely/collaborate with MINFOF Park Services of in the Lobeke National Park.
