Telemarketing (TM) is a widely used channel as well as a very effective channel in UNICEF world. UNICEF China has started the TM activities from 2010, at present, we cooperate with two call centers to conduct outbound and inbound service activities, mainly to serve UNICEF friends. From 2020, UNICEF China has seen a great leap on friend file, after several years of development, more and more detailed activities and services have been launched, and the focus has also been shifted to protect UNICEF reputation and better maintain the relationship with UNICEF friends.

How can you make a difference?

To cope with this change, the Partnerships and Innovations Section needs a Telemarketing Assistant to support UNICEF China’s TM activities. This is a TA assignment for 364 days from December 2022 to December 2023 to assist and support in TM campaigns and daily operation.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Communications Support;
  • Administrative Support;
  • Operations Support.

COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT:

  • Assist to prepare training materials, optimize training scheme, and partly conduct onsite training by request;
  • Conduct recording of training by video and photos;
  • Assist to implement motivation related events.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:

  • Assist to create SOP such as UNICEF main data system working manual, report guidelines;
  • Review and update FAQ regularly by request;
  • Assist to apply accounts of various platforms for agency;
  • Deliver supplies to agency by request;
  • Assist to do the regular payment;
  • Assist to do the Travel authorization;
  • Other administrative work by request.

OPERATIONS SUPPORT:

  • Involved in email marketing production including design, support to analyze and optimize email marketing; partly involved in email marketing content communication by request;
  • Daily communication with inbound and outbound team of agency, using real time communication platform to coordinate between UNICEF and agencies;
  • Assist in ordering TM activity related incentive gift;
  • Assist and support TM officer to carry out motivation activities of TM agent and cooperate with agency;
  • Collect and monitor reports from agencies in time; checked reports’ correctness;
  • Assist to check the attendance of TM agency;
  • Assist in optimizing reports as required.

Impact of Results:

Under the general supervision of the TM Officer, the individual contractor will be responsible for supporting TM officer to operate telemarketing campaign. It includes assisting in handling some daily affairs from the agency, assisting and supporting the operation of TM campaign according to the instructions of TM Officer, and doing some administrative work.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in the fields of business administration, marketing or the other related areas;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant telemarketing or business administrative work experience is required;
  • Native Mandarin Chinese skills, reading and writing is required. Fluency in English is required including good command of spoken English and working knowledge of written English.

Skills:

  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other UNICEF software such as SharePoint; knowledge of integrated management information systems required;
  • Organizational, planning and prioritizing skills and abilities;
  • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with TM agency;
  • High sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment;
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural background;
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals;
  • Able to complete task on time, detail-oriented candidate is desirable;
  • Ability to work in teams and independently, exceptional customer service attitude.

Remarks:

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
