ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Kenya:

  • Monitor data collection remotely (through a dashboard), conduct data quality checks and work with already identified local partner to fix data issues, and support the firm during the data collection as necessary
  • Process coffee production and income data and generate key indicators for analyses of the costs, prices, as well as livelihoods and living wages/living incomes of commodity producers and workers
  • Support the team with analyses of the costs, prices, as well as livelihoods and living wages/living incomes of commodity producers and workers and produce analytical outputs.

Columbia:

  • Conduct background research and gather data and information to inform household survey design and identification of an experienced local survey firm
  • Provide input during adaptation of Kenya survey tools to Columbia based on background research done
  • Monitor data collection remotely, conduct data quality checks, work with the firm to be identified to fix data issues, and support the firm during the planning and implementation of the data collection
  • Process coffee production and income data and generate key indicators for analyses of the costs, prices, as well as livelihoods and living wages/living incomes of commodity producers and workers
  • Support the team with analyses of the costs, prices, as well as livelihoods and living wages/living incomes of commodity producers and workers and produce analytical outputs.

OUTPUTS

  • Stata scripts for data quality checks;
  • Survey firm for Columbia data collection identified;
  • Draft survey design plan for Columbia;
  • Database of constructed indicators for Kenya and Columbia;
  • Stata scripts for data analyses along with analytical outputs (e.g., tables, graphs).

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • At least Master’s Degree in international development, development economics, agricultural and applied economics or a very closely related field;
  • At least two years of experience in conducting household surveys;
  • Advanced knowledge of Stata software, good econometric skills, and proven familiarity with data production and collection processes;
  • Experience in analyzing complex household-level micro agricultural data;
  • Capacity of delivering good quality products and services on time under tight deadlines and pressure;
  • Capacity of working independently, particularly in producing research outputs;
  • Due attention to details, and efficiency in delivering the agreed output;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in effective interactions and negotiations in a multi-cultural environment setting with researchers;
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

PREFERED SKILLS

  • Spanish speaker;
  • Survey experience in Columbia.
