Mission

The position of Inclusion Communication Officer is dedicated to the communication of:

– The international hub on inclusion of PWD (people living with disability)

– MSF-WaCA’s People safeguarding and Inclusion

Main responsibilities / Activities

1) 50% position dedicated to the communication of the hub Inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Overall key activities:

Develop, maintain, and document a communication strategy to ensure the highest possible visibility of the international hub on inclusion of PWDs in MSF and its materials among the key target groups and MSF at large. The position holder is expected to progressively bring a new and creative dimension to the communication of the project.

Ensure the dissemination of key materials developed or gathered by the hub on inclusion of PWDs.

In collaboration with the hub coordinator, collect proactively relevant information through research, interviews, news monitoring, meeting with key actors (specialists, organizations of persons with disabilities, change-makers …) or other means.

The communication related to the visibility of the project and its materials also includes among others the development, the maintenance and the promotion of the inclusion portal and of its content (Videos, guideline, tools, eLearning course, experience-sharing, interviews, articles…)

This includes also the writing and the regular releases of the newsletter associated to the portal (typically every 2-3 months).

In term of general support to the project and its coordinator, this can include activities like organization of events and webinars, as examples.

2) 50% position dedicated to the communication of MSF-WACA People safeguarding and Inclusion

Key activities:

  • Collaborate with the communication department and WaCA missions to create efficient communications for internal and external dissemination
  • Develop communication tools to raise awareness and advocate for DEI
  • Regular communication on Gender related projects and initiatives
  • Promote Diversity and Inclusion best practices
  • Maintain contact with key community groups identified and ensure that these groups receive up-to-date information on programmes and projects
  • provide written communication plans, newsletters, articles for website and social media content for publication

The job profile is evolutive. Activities are based on identified needs and may evolve over the duration of the assignment.

Job requirements

Education / Qualification / Pre-requisites

  • Degree in communication or significant and equivalent experience in the field.

Competencies Skills

  • Fluent in French and English oral and written
  • Fluent Knowledge of WORDPRESS
  • Strong digital skills (graphic design, Photo, video, multimedia, portals, newsletters, social media, social media and portal monitoring…)

Professional experience required

  • Strong hands-on experience in communication in humanitarian organisations or in the social field and in digital communication.
  • Strong aptitude and understanding of the communication aspects of community engagement
  • Experience in implementing external and/or internal communication policies
  • Good understanding of DEI related matters and strong familiarity with sharing best practices

Added values

  • Other languages & sign language are an added value
  • Experience working for MSF or other international or national NGOs working in the humanitarian or social field

Languages Skills

  • · Both working proficiency in English and French

(According to the coordination responsibilities of the position in both French and English-speaking countries, the hired person must be able to easily communicate in both languages.)

Computer Skills

  • WORDPRESS and Social media
  • MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • TEAMS and ZOOM are commonly used
