Job Description

Position Summary: Assist the Executive Chef in the planning and preparation of menus and food service for catered events. Maintain superior standards for food quality, cost control, timeliness of service, kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Executive Chef with menu planning, food purchasing, food transportation, food preparation (quality and portion control) and event execution ;
  • Schedule, supervise and train part-time cooks and kitchen staff ;
  • Manage food and supply inventories ;
  • Update costing for recipes and maintain Caterease database ;
  • Maintain food safety standards in accordance with NYC Department of Health requirements ;
  • Perform additional responsibility as directed by Executive Chef or Assistant Director

 

Qualification Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years off premise catering experience required ;
  • Culinary Degree required ;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office ;
  • Experience with Caterease and SAP desired ;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required ;
  • Strong leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and problem solving abilities ;
  • Ability to focus attention on client needs under pressure while remaining calm and courteous ;
  • Ability to work days, nights and weekends ;
  • Valid driver’s license
