Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, international relations, political science, law or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Job – Specific Qualification

Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in international relations, international security, diplomacy, development, conflict resolution, law, humanitarian affairs, or related field is required, at least five of which must be at the international level.
  • At least five of the past ten years working in a complex field environment, in international humanitarian, development, political affairs, or security roles is required.
  • Experience in development and/or implementation of organizational strategic and change management initiatives in a large international organization is desirable.
  • Experience in the past five years working on an emergency response in an international humanitarian context is desirable;
  • Experience in supporting and facilitating linkages between security policies, analysis, and approaches, and UN programming and results, is desirable.
  • A minimum of five years of field experience in the past ten years working within the UN Common System or comparable international organization or nongovernmental organization in a conflict, post-conflict or natural disaster setting is desirable.
  • Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
