Project Overview and Role:     

Palladium is seeking an Intern to support the implementation of health financing activities under the USAID-funded Health Policy Plus (HP+) project and other global health projects as needs arise. The successful candidate will support the development and execution of quantitative analyses, research, and policy development, to complement the health financing and economics portfolio at Palladium, with the aim to improve sustainable financing for health in developing countries. This work may include conducting statistical analyses to inform the future direction of health financing policies, supporting strategic development of health financing policies including health insurance reforms, and generating evidence to support domestic resource mobilization initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing support for one or two discrete project activities, including elements of workplan development, budgeting, staffing, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Generates technical analyses related to health financing across the health system and also for priority health areas (HIV, family planning, MCH, TB etc.), including desk-based research, quantitative analyses (e.g. costing), health insurance related analyses, health market analyses, and investment case and economic model development ;
  • Supports planning, development, and implementation of health financing activities, including management of staff, budget, reporting requirements, and products ;
  • Develops presentations, reports, and briefs for internal and/or client or government use ;
  • Conduct comprehensive, systematic desk and literature reviews on the intersection of health financing, economics, and policy ;
  • Organize findings in clear and structured manner and internally present those findings ;
  • Provide overall research support to diverse activities as needs arise ;
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for convening expert meetings ;
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements   

  • Experience in global health finance, international development, or other related fields ;
  • Experience with government engagement and policy analyses, costing, and health economics, desired ;
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills, including data analysis and statistical interpretation ;
  • Clear and effective writing and oral communication skills ;
  • Ability to work in French, desired ;
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks and balance competing priorities effectively and efficiently within a small timeframe ;
  • Professional and mature demeanour and conduct ;
  • Ability to take initiative and/or respond independently to situations ;
  • Ability to work well with limited oversight and with diverse cross-cultural groups, partners, and colleagues.
