Mercy Corps responsibilities

For the duration of this internship assignment the intern will receive:

  • Workspace within the Mercy Corps office in Portland, OR (flexible based on intern needs/desires and COVID restrictions);
  • Training and supervisory support;
  • Access to Mercy Corps online tools;
  • All other tools, materials and communication requirements for this project to be undertaken.

Intern responsibilities

Intern will remain responsible for all costs associated with:

  • Travel to and from Mercy Corps HQ and Plaza 122 as needed;
  • Laptop for working remotely;
  • Accommodation, travel and living expenses;
  • All other costs associated with this internship.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project is to review, evaluate and improve the Feasibility Assessment workflow and tools focusing on the CIT Community Mapping and Property Evaluation Toolkits. These tools will be used as part of the CIT Replication and Implementation Package for the CIT across the United States.

These Toolkits are intended :

  • to help CIT Replicators to identify the targeted project’s geography and scan for the assets and gaps.
  • to evaluate and score key project categories, property and neighborhood viability.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Research different tools for community mapping, identifying assets and gaps in a project’s geography, targeting an area by zip codes and census tracts with research on demographics (age, ethnicity, education, income, renter- owner, time lived there-displaced from elsewhere).
  • Collects a variety of statistical data and assists with developing, evaluating, and improving guidelines on community mapping for Implementers (GIS analysis).
  • Assist with preparing project scorecard reports, including visual project scorecard.
