Background

The Communications Officer is responsible for creating and curating high-quality graphics and audio visual and written content for iMMAP France in Ethiopia and will provide support to other communications activities in the region which currently includes Nigeria and Malawi. This position requires the ability to collaborate with iMMAP France country offices in the region to maintain and enforce branding guidelines and create visually appealing content for regional teams, HQ, stakeholders, and partners. The Communications Officer will also act as a communication focal point for the region and be able to quickly respond to any onset needs for content production in the region. The Communications Officer will directly report to the Ethiopia Country Representative and will liaise with other Country offices as well as HQ.

Roles and Responsibilities

Content development

  • Collaborate with the iMMAP France team in the region, to develop communication content and materials,
  • Reach out to iMMAP France team members in the region to identify communications topics showcasing activities and impact of the offices in the region,
  • Develop and produce high-quality visual, digital, and written content for iMMAP France, including blog posts, presentations, infographics, videos, and other related media,
  • Collaborate with the HQ Team to ensure that all content is consistent with iMMAP France branding guidelines and standards,
  • Research and stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in content creation,
  • Support the iMMAP France regional team in the development of engaging reports including reviewing of documents for grammar, spelling, and consistency with iMMAP France brand templates.

Communication

  • Gather written and visual content, develop, and share iMMAP France regional newsletters, manage contact lists for these newsletters,
  • Update fact sheets, reports, and the section of the website as needed,
  • Ensure all products such as reports, templates, and visibility items for the regional team meet iMMAP France communication guidelines and branding,
  • Provide induction training sessions and internal support on implementation of internal communication guidelines and iMMAP France brand,
  • Write accurate articles and success stories regarding the iMMAP France regional and country programs as requested
  • In consultation with the iMMAP France country representatives and senior management teams in country offices, develop social media posts to share on iMMAP France social media accounts,
  • Support the iMMAP Ethiopia Capacity Building team to prepare high quality video and graphics content,
  • Engage with partners at national level to support synergetic communication and advocacy.

Other

  • Share updates on ongoing IM products and activities and promote good practices in the regional offices,
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the line manager or headquarter.

Requirements

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field from a recognized institution;
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience

  • At least three years of professional experience, prior experience with development or humanitarian organizations desirable;
  • Experience working in development of materials for information management and/or technology-based topics is desirable;
  • Proven experience of curating content for various social media platforms;
  • Knowledge of other social media tools such as hashtag generator, social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc., is a plus;
  • Experience in evolving in a complex, multiple stakeholders and dynamic environment is a must.
