Job Summary
The Accountant reports to the Senior Accountant and manages the Country Office’s accounting function.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Payments & Reimbursements, Financial Management & Reporting

  • Ensure all financial transactions have the appropriate and required supporting documents in compliance with ChildFund policies and procedures, donor terms and conditions and sound internal controls.
  • Keyed accurate and complete accounting entries of all financial transaction which includes fund transfer, verifying vouchers and journal vouchers.
  • Review of supporting documents and enter payment request into accounts payable module for payment processing.
  • Process all payments within 3 working days.
  • Ensure and deduct accurate Tax and deposit to tax amount with in due date.
  • Make replenishment of petty cash if it exceeds 50% of the petty cash limit or fortnightly.
  • Maintain Society bank register for bank payment.
  • Support field admin coordinator for accounting entries and review and post their entries.
  • Ensure all the statutory payments and return filed as per the due date.
  • Ensure all CO Office Finance Documents are in order for the Assurance/ Finance Review.

Accounting & Statutory Compliance

  • Coordinate with audit team to ensure for smooth completion of all audit whenever required.
  • Verify supporting Document as per the payment check list.
  • To review and ensure compliances with regards to FCRA, IT, PF and PT.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting manuals and prevalent accounting practices.
  • Monitor preparations for statutory audits and see them to completion by taking corrective action for non-conformance.
  • Ensure the Preparation of Bank Reconciliation and Month end report in a timely manner and send it to Senior Accountant for review.
  • Co-ordinate with Senior Accountant and keep the documents ready for review at the time of assurance review.
  • Escalate any issues on funds to Senior Accountant and resolve them accordingly
  • Ensure legal compliance related to finance operations.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by Line Manager.

EDUCATION/ SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES

  • Professional or Degree Qualification in Accounts/Finance/ Commerce.
  • At least 3 – 5 years of accounting experience in the development sector preferably for an international organization.
  • Willingness to travel to remote locations when required.
