The Role:

Oxfam in Indonesia is looking for value chain analysis consultant who will examine the seaweed sector in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, and how its connection with the global value chain. The analysis will answer several key questions that lay on commodity selection guidelines.

What we are looking for:

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

  • Understand the value chain in the seaweed industry and the seafood sector in general.
  • Have experience and capacity to conduct value chain analysis in Indonesia.
  • Have strong networking in the seafood sector, especially with the private sector.
  • Experience working with international, national & local institutions, international NGOs, private
    sectors, and local CSOs in the seafood sector.
  • Having a network in the field, especially in Oxfam’s work areas in Indonesia (Particularly in Takalar,
    South Sulawesi)
  • Understand CSOs’ work environment and be fluent in enabling gender-sensitive approaches in
    the seafood sector.
  • Ability to write concisely, analyse data and information precisely, and present key findings in a
    well-defined structure.
  • Strong understanding of development and evaluation ethics and a commitment to ethical
    working practices.
  • Ability to adapt to challenges in remote area fieldwork.
  • Excellent language skills for writing and communication, both English and Indonesian.
  • Committed to implementing ethical research.

  • Detailed proposal of the assignment which explains the comprehension of the expected objectives, including methodology, logistic equipment, timeframe to conduct the assignment including the overall evaluation of the assignment.
  • Samples of similar works produced and/or published, demonstrate the experience of high quality and credible evaluation of research which demonstrated strong experience with qualitative research. It would be advantageous to have experience using a mix-methods approach.
  • At least two referees who are knowledgeable about how the previous job experience has been
    conducted.

2. Financial component:

  • Detailed estimated budget for this assignment, including gross consultancy fee, budget lines for
    per diem, travel, accommodation costs, and other meeting costs if any. Consultancy fee should
    be indicated in gross terms, which includes tax either 10% VAT or 2,5% for PPh.
