As Head of Finance you will implement existing financial management standards in the programmes efficiently and promptly, thereby making a significant contribution towards the success of programme work. You will ensure that financial administrative processes in the Country Office are auditable and run efficiently. This will be realized through appropriate organizational measures in the Country Office, with the projects/partner organizations, and through carrying out financial administrative controls.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the financial and administrative processes of the projects are aligned with Welthungerhilfe’s financial and administrative policies and procedures, as well as donor contractual agreements;
  • Budget planning of the Country Office and preparation of the cost and financing plan, as well as supporting the Country Director in monitoring the budget;
  • Supporting the Country Director to conclude agreement with PPO and co-financiers;
  • Coordinating Country Office statements on audit and accounting reports, and checking implementation of appropriate recommendations and requirements;
  • Ensuring that donor reports are accurate, and submitted timely, and that all donor queries are responded to;
  • Controlling and supervising liquidity planning of the projects and internal fund requests;
  • Instructing and supporting partner organizations in matters relating to financial management and enhance their capacity to fulfill their contractual obligations to Welthungerhilfe;
  • Reviewing contracts for quality and compliance;
  • Supporting Heads of Project in preparation of donor fund requests, project extension requests and reports;
  • Supporting all financial administrative matters with current and potential co-financiers on location, including maintaining contacts and examining financing modalities with regard to ongoing and planned individual projects.

Your profile

  • A College or University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or related discipline;
  • ACCA or CPA membership will be an added advantage;
  • More than 5 years international working experience in managing finance processes in a leadership role;
  • Experience working with KFW and EU donor regulations;
  • Proven skills in finance reporting, audit preparations, budgeting, management, and organizational skills are required;
  • Ability to work under time pressure and, regular, high workload;
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries;
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
