Key Responsibilities:

Purpose of the position: The position will be responsible for implementation of WASH project activities, community level coordination and fostering partnerships within the sector in the Traditional Authorities (TA’s)

MAJOR RESOONSIBILITIES

Project planning and Implementation

Facilitate community engagement in planning, design and developing detailed annual implementation    plans for the sector aligned to the Technical Program Facilitate efficient and timely implementation of planned WASH activities.

Conduct water quality monitoring

Project monitoring and reporting

Regular data collection under the sector for reporting and evaluation. Developing and submitting WASH reports as required. Conduct community monitoring visits and review meetings Documenting lessons learnt, promising practices and change stories Report RC participation in sector related activities Produce and share evidence of project impact on children including RC Conduct home visits for RC households

Build the capacity of community groups in monitoring

Community engagement and capacity building

Identify technical and organizational capacity gaps among community groups, volunteers and stakeholders Organize and implement capacity building initiatives at community level Provide mentorship and coaching of trained groups (volunteers, committees and stakeholders) Mobilize and engage communities in sector specific issues using participatory methodologies (Sanitation and hygiene behavior change) Build the capacity of the community in disaster risk management

Networking & Advocacy

Facilitate linkages between community groups and relevant technical sector platforms Identify WASH sector related issues for advocacy Build the capacity of community groups in advocacy using Citizen Voice and Advocacy (CVA) Represent the programme in relevant forums at local level /District level Facilitate interface meetings between service providers and community groups Build partnerships with the church and FBOs within sector related activities

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • B.Sc. Civil Engineering/ Water and environmental engineering, Water resources management or Public Health with 4 years’ relevant experience will be preferred.
  • Technical practical skills in GIS and Water mapping
  • At least 3 years’ experience in community WASH development project.
  • Previous work experience at community level working with different partners including government, community structures and other CSO’s
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English and ability to write quality report,
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong supervisory abilities, and demonstrated capacity of teamwork and of coordination with relevant actors;
  • Knowledge of the SPHERE and WHO water quality standards.
