Under the guidance and overall supervision of the Operations Manager and direct supervision of the Operations Assistant, the Office Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Office Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

 The Office Driver provides driving services to the operations and programme/ project personnel in the office, and UN personnel on mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of Key Functions:
  • Provision of reliable and secure driving services.
  • Proper use of vehicle.
  • Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Availability of documents/ supplies.
  • Assist cleaners on cleaning duties when available from driving services.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
  1. Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
  2. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  3. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  4. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs (which must be accurately and legibly filled in before submitting for the immediate supervisor’s review), office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.
  5. Assist cleaners on cleaning duties and setting up of spaces for meetings, interviews, etc. when available from driving services.
  6. Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • Secondary Education. Valid Driver’s license.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience as a professional driver; safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
  • Basic elementary knowledge of motor machines and a valid driver’s license.
  • Be able to do minor repairs, particularly on common issues related to vehicle breakdown during road trips.

Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section

  • Experience in emergencies and security a definite advantage.
  • Previous working experience with a UN agency an asset.
  • Experience working with National and/or International Organization is desirable.
Required Language(s):
  • Fluency in English and Samoan both written and verbal.
Professional Certificates:
  • Professional Driver’s License.
