Avis de recrutement d’un chef de département santé et nutrition H/F, Freetown, Sierra Leone

Votre environnement de travail

Global context of the mission:

In Sierra Leone Action Against Hunger was established in 1991, working in more than 11 districts. Action Against Hunger overall objective in this context is to fight against hunger and this is achieved through the implementation of nutrition and health, Advocacy and Raising awareness, mental health care practices, food security, Livelihood, and water sanitation and Hygiene projects.

Security context:

Sierra Leone has taken significant strides following 4 democratic elections since the end of its civil war in 2002 and the political situation is stable.

At mission level security situation is relatively peaceful this is evident by the recently conducted presidential elections and a smooth transition of the newly elected president.

Specificity to take into account at capital:

Our focus for the next five years is to continue a presence in the current geographical areas to have a consolidated footprint, continuing to implement quality, consistent programs in line with the overall strategy of the organisation, the Government of Sierra Leone, taking into account the needs of beneficiaries. We also give support to local partners-Focus 1000, which mainly engages on focusing on children.

Poor road facilities and shortage of clean water at households and public facilities level are among the key obstacles to human development and school attendance. Poor water, sanitation and hygiene are also among the main causes for under-five of age mortality. Lack of proper WASH conditions is an impediment to economic development of a country. It is with this background that Action Against Hunger is implementing its WASH project in Freetown operating at community and health facility levels coupling hardware initiatives (Construction / rehabilitation) with software    activities aiming at triggering behavioural change particularly in vulnerable communities.
