TOTAL recruits a Legal Counsel in Singapore

Job Description

The Legal Counsel:
  • Works in functional collaboration with a lawyer based in Paris in the International commerce department;
  • Advises and assists operational and business teams in all areas of business law for their day-to-day operations as well as for their development strategy;
  • Optimizes their strategic operations from the legal side;
  • Drafts and negotiates all commercial agreements both under civil law and common law systems (e.g. bunkering agreements, charter party agreements, general terms and conditions of purchase and sale, confidentiality agreements, memoranda of understanding, service contracts, LNG supply agreements, etc.);
  • Pilots commercial disputes falling within the scope of her assignment of responsibilities;
  • Provides legal support for the management of credit risk-related matters (parent company guarantees, credit insurance, set-off agreements, insolvency proceedings, etc.);
  • Supervises the corporate secretary and all corporate matters.
  • Attends the One Total meetings, participates in the Initiatives of the actions plan or cases which have a direct or indirect link with Total Marine Fuels activities, training sessions as organizer or attendee

Candidate profile

  • Postgraduate university degree in business law
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in French is an asset
  • Knowledge of the marine fuels business
  • Self-organization and time/priorities management skills
  • Ability to work in an international and fast-moving environment
  • Good interpersonal relationships and understanding of cross-functional management mechanisms
  • Excellent oral and written English skills, in particular with contracts
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in law firms and/or major industrial group
