Position Overview

The Country Capacity Strengthening (CCS) Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating the shift in WFP’s partnership approach from ‘transactional’ to ‘strategic’ and from ‘delivery’ to ‘enabling’. The position reports to the Deputy Country Director.

The CCS Coordinator will be expected to work closely with colleagues across the WFP Somalia team as well as represent WFP in meetings with senior government officials. Additionally, the coordinator will participate in County Leadership Team strategic decision-making to integrate capacity strengthening principles and approaches into all aspects of WFP Somalia’s work.

Minimun Qualifications & Experience

Education:
  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications or other related fields.
 

Experience

 

  • +11 years of relevant professional work experience in an international context working closely with government and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
  • Has a good understanding of government and CSO strategies and priorities and gained experience in institutional capacity strengthening and developing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Has significant experience in exploring new opportunities and partnerships in the design and implementation of capacity-building strategies and interventions.
  • Has experience in managing multistakeholder consultation processes and leading organizational strategy development.
  • Has designed and provided strategic advice to senior management and/or managed the delivery of an organisational strategy.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Stakeholder management: Can bring internal stakeholders together, facilitate interactions using participatory techniques and motivate a team spirit while ensuring a gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment;
  • Strategic partnerships: Has a good understanding of institutional capacity strengthening approaches for a different type of institutions and at different levels – including policy, coordination and delivery;
  • Strategic Approach: Can think strategically and embed WFP’s comparative advantages into capacity-strengthening initiatives;
  • Analytical skills: Can gather and synthesize broad-based information for multi-stakeholder planning and decision-making;
  • Fluency (level C) in English language.
