Building Climate Resilience Through Youth And Women Farmers Project

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

  1. ZENAB for women development has received a grant from the Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF), hosted at the African Development Bank, to finance “Building Climate Resilience Through Youth And Women Farmers Project”.
  1. The principal objectives of this project are to :
  • (i) Improvement of climate resilient crop diversification,
  • (ii) Improvement of post-harvest processing and storage facilities,
  • (iii) Strengthening collective entrepreneurial capacity of youth and women farmers’ associations.
  1. The project includes the following components :

Under the first (i) objective:

  • provision of farming input packages containing open-pollinated multipliable seeds for sorghum, millet, sesame and groundnuts, fertilizer and herbicides for about two hundred women farmers, skills transfer on use of the packages to additional approximately one hundred youth farmers, and access to farming machinery [Goods and non-consulting services];
  • conducting on-farm training to technology transfer and extension officers on the farming input package and climate resilient best agricultural practices including among others crop diversification, use of seed varieties, pest and-7- weed control, soil conservation, water harvesting, land preparation, composting, and sanitation for waste management [Consulting service, individual consultant].

Under the second (ii) objective:

  • establishment of low-carbon seed processing and storage facility [Goods and non-consulting services];
  • conducting training on seed processing and storage techniques for about two hundred (200) women farmers and about one hundred (100) youth farmers and training on seed-processing facility and storage maintenance to about twenty (20) farmers’ associations and about forty (40) youth leaders [Consulting services].; and
  • establishment of market linkages between farmers’ associations and seed companies to enable farmers to diversify income sources [Consulting service].

Under the third (iii) objective:

  • providing training to about twenty (20) farmers’ associations and about ten (10) youth leaders in organizational management [Consulting service, individual consultant];
  • Link FA network with savings account at microfinance institution and provide crop insurance [Consulting service];
  • conducting climate resilient vocational training for about twenty (20) farmers’ associations and about ten (10) youth leaders in order to improve collective entrepreneurial capacity of women farmers and youth [Consulting service].

For the overall project:

  • Recruitment of project team (a procurement expert and a financial and administrative manager), [Consulting service, individual consultant];
  • Audit firm for an audit at the end of the project, [Consulting service];
  • Project Completion Report at the end of the project, [Consulting service, individual consultant].
  1. Procurement of goods and/or works will be in accordance with the Bank’s Rules of Procedure for the Procurement of Goods and Works. Acquisition of the services of Consultants will follow the Bank’s Rules of Procedure for the Use of Consultants. Bidding documents are expected to be available in June 2021.
