At WFP, we are looking for an experienced Programme Associate (Food systems and Resilience) to support  our programme team in Khartoum – 02, Kosti -01, Zalingei – 01, El Obeid – 01) G 6 Level , Sudan.

WFP Sudan has the potential to reach millions of food insecure people across Sudan – with a total of 4 million people assisted in 2018. WFP Sudan, one of the largest and complex operations for WFP globally,  is currently rolling out its five-year Country Strategic Plan (2019-2023), which aims to provide emergency assistance through a hybrid approach (Cash, food and vouchers), along with life-changing types of programmes (Nutrition, Resilience and School Feeding).

Job purpose:

SCOPE is WFP’s beneficiary identity and benefit management system (cloud-based digital solution) that helps WFP know better the people we serve, so the assistance we provide can be more targeted and appropriate. SCOPE is used to register people, calibrate entitlements, deliver the assistance, and subsequently manage the operational data coming in providing a responsive information system to guide effective programming across all transfer modalities (food or cash).

To purpose of this position is to provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food or cash assistance needs.

Key accountabilities: (not all-inclusive)

  • Provide funds management support to the Productive Safety Nets Unit and prepare regular analysis on funds utilization against implementation progress.
  • Liaise with AOs to ensure reporting of CBT distributions are timely and accurately reflected in COMET.
  • Follow up with Field Level Agreements (FLA) unit on the finalization of FLAs, POs/PRs creation, advance payments to CPs in addition to addendums processing.
  • Follow up with CBT unit on PRs/POs creation for cash distribution and provide the monthly cash forecast.
  • Assist the team in preparation of critical documents, meetings and workshops.
  • Submit programming requests and follow up with Budget and Programming Unit (BPU) on relevant issues.
  • Provide regular updates to AOs on pending issues at CO level in close coordination with PSN focal points.
  • Conduct field visits as and when necessary and compile and analyze monitoring & reporting findings provided by the AOs/SOs and provide feedback in consultation with CO PSN focal points.
  • Coordination with all respective units/sub-units on the implementation of PSN activities to insure fulfilling project objectives on a timely manner.

Standard minimum qualifications

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate preferably in economics, business administration, social studies or related fields.

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience in programme or project management, database systems, business administration or other related fields is required.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and Arabic.

Desired experiences for entry into the role:

The desired candidate should have the following experiences

  • Has worked with technical teams in programming
  • Has contributed to implementation of programmes and programme activities.
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions that facilitate delivery of programmes to beneficiaries.
