Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, energy, environment, sustainable development or related field is required.

A relevant first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in researching energy economics, sustainable energy policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area is required.

Experience in high level stakeholder management including ability to deal effectively with senior government officials is required.

Experience in energy demand and supply modelling as well as SDG 7 scenarios analysis is desirable.

Experience in drafting analytical studies and reports on issues relevant to sustainable energy development in Asia and the Pacific is desirable.

Experience in the United Nations Common System or international organizations is desirable.

Publications in the field of climate change and energy is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Assessment
