Description of Duties

Under the supervision of the Senior Specialist on Gender, Equality and Non-discrimination, the Intern will:

1. Undertake a range of activities to support work at the office, national and regional levels, specifically on the promotion of the inclusion of persons with disabilities, including gendered analysis systematically, in development cooperation projects and inputs into Decent Work Country Programmes (as relevant) with a view to achieve results that align with ILO technical notes.

2. Contribute to research and prepare technical inputs for analyses, in new development cooperation projects (components), panel participation, reports and publications related to the inclusion of persons with disabilities, including intersecting characteristics such as gender, gender identity, indigenous status, etc.

3. Assist in the organisation and preparation of conferences and seminars, particularly related to the promotion of employment of persons with disabilities, including through National Business and Disability Network.

4. Assist with the coordination of activities towards the promotion of ILO Disability Policy and Strategy, and UNDIS, within the region.

5. Support the gathering of good practices and human stories involving the inclusion of persons with disabilities through ILO work in the region.

6. Undertake other duties as required.

Education

Applicants should currently be enrolled in the final year of a postgraduate programme (such as a master’s programme or equivalent), or in a higher degree programme, in a recognized university, school, similar institution or related vocational programme, in social or political sciences, corporate social responsibility, international development or any other relevant field, or have completed such programme in the year preceding the application.

Duration

Preferably from 26 June 2023 to 25 December 2023.

Applicants will need to be adaptable to an international, multicultural, multilingual environment; have good communication skills; and be able to work in a team.
