About the role…

Operating as Head of Francophone West Africa, and Country Manager for Cameroon, you’ll be responsible for growing WorldRemit’s footprint across our key Francophone West African countries including Senegal, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Mali and Sierra Leone.

You are a commercial business leader, accustomed to working in dynamic and fast paced organisations with high expectations. Using your broad understanding of the market and your network, you will develop a strategic vision for the region and turn it into a reality.

As a member of WorldRemit’s commercial team you will aim high, embrace challenge and always do what’s right; acting with integrity and building trust as you contribute to the company’s technical direction and long term decision making.

The role will be based in Senegal, and you will spend up to 30% of your time travelling across the region.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, you will :

  • Acquire new and manage existing partnerships, deepening these relationships, whilst accelerating our growth ;
  • Target a wide variety of correspondents ranging from mobile operators, banks, financial institutions, and retailers ;
  • Lead from the front to drive in-country marketing activities with a positive return on investment ;
  • Work closely with the CMO and Marketing team in London HQ to set up co-branded marketing between WorldRemit and correspondent partners, you’ll stay true to our brand values whilst respecting regional sensibilities ;
  • Identify opportunities for growth and development using market analysis and insights ;
  • Create the Commercial strategy for the region, rigorously prioritising the most profitable opportunities whilst balancing short and long term results ;
  • Use your broad insight into consumer trends in the region to generate ideas with the London-based Product team for enhancing the service.

 

What we’re looking for from you…

  • In-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape as it relates to international remittances and mobile money ;
  • Fluency in French and English languages, both written and verbal ;
  • A consumer financial services background, with exposure to technology, payments, remittances or banking ;
  • Skills and experience engaging with senior officials within central banks / regulators (ensuring we remain compliant and licensed to operate) ;
  • Proven business development and relationship building skills (having sold to the highest level of target organisations) ;
  • Strong commercial acumen and relationship management skills ;
  • Strategic, analytical, product mindset ;
  • Autonomous self-management as well as impeccable communication skills.
