The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until July 31, 2024, with good prospects for an extention. Employment location can be anywhere within Germany (home based), with occasional meetings at headquarters in Bonn.

You are an expert in buidling tech-solutions or a leader driven by the desire to achieve maximum impact in developing countries? With advanced skills in project management, planning and business development, you will take responsibility for making Welthungerhilfe’s Child Growth Monitor (CGM) solution as effective as possible. The CGM is a project to digitalize the detection of under- and malnutrition of children anywhere on the planet by using smartphones. Artificial Intelligence is used to predict their height and weight from a growing visual data set, to determine children’s nutritional status.

Your responsibilities

  • Steer and coordinate the overall process to further develop the CGM App for the identification of malnutrition in children
  • Ensure growing efficiency of the product that reaches millions of scans of children while fostering a culture of innovation throughout the organization
  • Control and steer the project according to agile steering principles, in particular the critical analysis and strategic adjustments regarding the tech development
  • Oversee and manage all security, privacy, and legal aspects of the application
  • Identify and attract new partners from the private, sciences and non-profit sectors for the CGM
  • Represent the product at both external and internal events
  • Create and maintain an supportive environment for tech developments
  • Build and empower a strong remote project team and a culture of excellence from the ground up to execute the strategy through setting objectives, coaching and mentoring
  • Work in close collaboration with Welthungerhilfe’s HR Unit to hire, onboard, train and retain talents
  • Work in close collaboration with the Head of Unit to inform on operating plan developments and KPI reporting.

Your profile

  • Strong experience in project management of projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in product management and software development
  • Experience working in a digital startup environment
  • Excellent communication skills, cultural awareness, and ability to interact with higher level stakeholders (including governments)
  • Proven track record of leading tech and product teams to success
  • Deep understanding of AI, ML, software architecture and IoT is desired
  • Understanding of crisis areas and interest in malnutrition topics is an advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written English; any additional languages would be an asset
