About the Role:

The Logistics Coordinator will specifically be assigned within our Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC).  HLC provides high quality, multifaceted, flexible and responsive project management and humanitarian supply chain solutions in support of the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Humanitarian Emergency Relief activities.

The role requires a strong candidate with the necessary analytical and operational skills to support the team to deliver business objectives, based at our Alexandria, NSW facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and coordinate emergency response activities, logistics and end to end procurement management  ;
  • Regular review of analytical data across quotes prepared and prices obtained ;
  • Obtain freight and transport rates from agents, support and place air and sea booking direct with carriers, airlines, and consolidators ;
  • Negotiate competitive rates with all subcontractors, service providers, and suppliers ;
  • Assist to define, develop, and manage project budgets, while monitoring timelines and delivery expectations of multiple projects ;
  • Comply with all industry legislation, regulations, and codes across import and export operations to and from Australia and other regions of the world ;
  • As required, oversee the day to day running of the Sydney based storage facility, including inventory management, despatch and receipt of goods, asset management, warehouse maintenance and document management.

Key Competencies Required:

  • TAFE or tertiary qualification in Logistics or related field ;
  • Proven experience Logistics operations and supply chain management ;
  • Previous procurement experience with government exposure preferred ;
  • Demonstrated warehouse experience and forklift license desired (LF) ;
  • Experience in Inventory Management Systems (CARGOWISE experience is advantageous) ;
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills ;
  • Ability to work with a low level of supervision and as a part of a team when required.
