The main responsibility of the Iteration Lead is to lead 2 Squad teams using the Agile/Scrum framework to achieve high velocity output of quality deliverables that maximise value for the digital business. The role will work in partnership with the Product Owners, Business Analysts and technical teams to maintain, prioritise and deliver the backlog for the VA Internet Booking Engine and the iOS & Android Native Mobile App Squads.
We also look to the Iteration Lead role to empower, lead and coach other ScrumMasters and squads’ teams to be successful, self-organising and adaptable to change, whilst assessing our Scrum maturity of the squads and coaching them to achieve higher levels of maturity.
The Iteration Lead will also lead daily stand-up meetings and take responsibility for sprint planning, showcases, retrospectives and other Agile related activities. Other key activities will be assisting the team to prioritise and maintain the product backlog whilst also facilitating discussions, decision making and conflict resolution within the team and stakeholders external to the squads.

Key Accountabilities:

Your key accountabilities include:

  • Be the lead ScrumMaster of the Internet Booking Engine and Mobile App our flagship products
  • Facilitate Agile processes – run daily stand ups, sprint retrospectives, demos and monitor health of Sprint
  • Facilitate and Lead Sprint Backlog grooming and planning sessions Balance key project deliveries with business requirements, operational maintenance and issue resolution
  • Forecast resource demand and identifying risk areas by monitoring, reviewing and reporting on resource allocation and deployment Ensure all activities are managed within established budgets, aligned with best practices and complied with mandatory standards
  • Consideration of safety impacts when development system and infrastructure roadmaps
  • Manage and resolve any potential conflict whilst facilitating all aspects of stakeholder relationships
  • Actively seek and maintain productive relationships with relevant business areas and stakeholders to ensure internal and external customer centricity drives all decision making
  • Guiding all squads how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values in a practical manner that increases team efficiencies
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity
  • Champion the scrum process; champion continuous improvement process and Agile maturity improvements

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate for this role will require:

  • 3+ years’ experience as an Agile PM or Scrum Master
  • Strong Agile experience and an advocate for Agile methodologies
  • Atlassian Jira and Confluence for agile development
  • A thorough understanding of Agile Methodologies, especially Scrum and the ability to effectively lead teams in a manner which is consistent with scrum principles & values
  • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
