The Role

The objective of the Information Management Specialist role is to ensure Virgin Australia Group meets and maintains compliance obligations for GDPR, CCPA, OAIC, APP and other governance/ compliance and legislative requirements around PI data.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Fulfil the role of subject matter expert with respect to all facets of PI data security. Engaging with business units and Group Technology to scope delivery, ongoing maintenance and remediation activities where required
  • Support where necessary the Privacy Team with data subject requests process template reviews, support and changes
  • Annual PI Data Maps Audit:

Prepare for and execute annual PI Data maps audit by reviewing all data stored in technical solution reviewing systems, processes, data storage locations and business owners

  • Work with Privacy Team and others to take a proactive approach to maintain familiarity with industry best practice to ensure current knowledge is up to date and implement any changes to the system to address requirements.
  • Monitor data retention and consult with the Privacy Officer around data retention policy and mishandled data
  • Monitor system alerts, maintenance and provide support in the change management process (CMP) as required.

What you need to be successful

  • IT security exposure from a technical perspective desirable
  • Experience of PI data management remediation projects in large and complex enterprise environments
  • A thorough understanding of the project/system development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with privacy laws, data protection, and information security regulations, and frameworks, such as GDPR, and APRA
  • Experience in consulting and client-facing roles
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lead by example
  • High level understanding of technical infrastructure and networking
