Ensuring the best possible services and technology are available to our business, the Finance Systems Specialist will be responsible for providing functional expertise of finance systems and act as a conduit into the wider technology support teams.
To be successful in this position you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining your passion for finance management systems.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Working with finance teams to understand their business needs and translate these into system solutions (for small enhancements).
  • Reviewing all vendor statements of work to ensure they are in alignment to contractual requirements and keeping track of delivery (where they are outside of funded projects)
  • Work with Finance and technology support teams to quickly identify the cause of complex issues, assist with workarounds and resolution
  • Ownership of ongoing or recurring issues associated with finance systems to identify and drive problem management and process improvements with relevant support teams
  • Oversight of how finance teams are using their technology to ensure correct security and continuous improvement measures are achieved
  • Work with project teams in designing system enhancements or integrating finance systems with other technology
  • Manage regular meetings with finance system administrators and yearly planning workshops in line with technology roadmaps
  • Proactively keep up to date on finance product changes and regularly share new information with users, including impact assessments of change requests or enhancements

What we’re looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Systems or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of finance functions
  • Experience supporting finance systems in a large organisation
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good level of knowledge of other technology or information  integrating/impacting finance systems
  • Ability to understand and analyse business issues and translate into business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability in translating business requirements into business system solutions
  • Strong work ethic and ability to lead by example
  • Track record of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and delivering effective change
  • Good understanding of the general IT systems environment and development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of project management and governance principles
  • Evidence of utilising strong communication and facilitation skills encompassing user and management levels, including vendors
  • Experience producing documents for communication to a broad audience
