Your role will be to:

  • Contribute to the work of the Surveillance System and Sensors team; support the development, implementation, modernisation and optimisation of the surveillance system in Europe, with global interoperability.
  • Perform surveillance system evaluations, data analyses and develop or use tools to facilitate the analyses.
  • Produce and/or contribute to technical documentation including reports, standards, specifications, guidance material, etc.
  • Support the development of new initiatives and approaches in relation to the surveillance system and define and manage their scope to ensure alignment with the overall strategy.
  • Prototype and assess solutions for new technologies and approaches for potential use and provide recommendations based on thorough analyses.
  • Provide support and expert advice (e.g. on surveillance implementation, emerging technologies, etc.) to stakeholders (ANSPs, Airspace Users, Member States, European institutions, international organisations, etc.) and participate to various international groups.
  • Contribute to procurement and contract management actions (development of tender specifications and evaluation of tenders) related to surveillance system and sensors.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Completed university studies of 4 years in a relevant domain (e.g. Aeronautical or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mathematics, Physics).
  • Internal candidates should go to page check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience to perform the described responsibilities.
  • Experience in surveillance systems (from an end-to-end perspective) and its sensors (Radars, ADS-B, WAM, and MLAT).
  • Experience with surveillance standards and specifications.
  • Experience with surveillance system evaluation, data analysis incl. big data, and reporting, incl. statistical and geographical representations.
  • Experience with scripting, programming language Python and SQL databases. Experience in Matlab and Linux is considered an asset.
  • Experience in collaborative activities in international working groups on surveillance is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Performance-Based Surveillance.
  • Knowledge of surveillance of new entrants, such as drones and their integration in the traffic management system is considered an asset.
