Missions and activities

African Swine Fever secretariat for Europe region
– Brussels office is the secretariat for African Swine Fever under the GFTADs and the officer will be in charge of managing the activities in relation with this topic;
– The GFTADs ASF activities will be conducted in close coordination and collaboration with the Moscow office;
– Work in collaboration and coordination with FAO, our partner on the GFTADs and with the European Commission who has the presidency of the GFTADs in Europe will be needed.

Regional GFTADs activities
– Represent Brussels office in the GFTADs activities of the region;
– Participate in GFTADs meetings and workshops when needed, a particular attention will be given to rabies as other activities in the office occurs around this topic.

Coordinate the workplan of the EU Contribution Agreement in Europe Region
– Following-up and assisting in activities covered by the Agreement;
– Main contact point for DG Sante, Headquarters and other offices in the Region regarding the implementation of the workplan.

Provide general support to the work of the Sub-Regional Representation
– Assist the Sub-Regional Representative in managing the day-to-day technical issues in the sub-region, including following up member countries on required information, conducting country visits, among others;
– Carry out other related activities as assigned by the Director General, the Regional Representative or the Sub-Regional Representative.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:
– A degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification (e.g. Microbiology, Animal Scientist, Food Scientist) in animal production and health sector relevant to the duties of this role;
– At least 5 years of experience in project coordination;
– At least 3 years of professional experience in an international context;
– Experience on Animal Health related topics will be an asset.

Requirements:

Technical skills:
– Excellent spoken and written English including report writing;Analytical and problem solving skills;
– Proficient in the use of MS Office (i.e. Word, Power Point, Excel).
