ExxonMobil recruits an Inspection Engineer (Huizhou)

Job Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide inspection engineering expertise in support of the design, construction, commissioning, start-up and operations of the ExxonMobil Huizhou Chemical Manufacturing Complex.
    • Plan and carry out fixed equipment/piping inspection via on-stream risk-based monitoring programs and downtime inspection activities,
    • Advise business teams/units on inspection program findings and recommend appropriate solutions for corrosion issues, to ensure safe and reliable operation of equipment,
    • Investigate equipment failure and recommend cost-effective methods of repair and material selection,
    • Develop and update piping and fixed equipment strategy as leading indicators for reliability, based on risk based inspection processes,
    • Maintain effective Inspection Data Management system and filing system, including periodic updates,
    • Review health of Mechanical Integrity programs and provide appropriate recommendations, mitigations and timely updates on equipment degradation problems,
    • Review inspections completed to confirm appropriate tasks consistent with inspection technique,
    • Develop risk profiles based on inspection and process data,
    • Perform Mechanical Integrity data analysis,
    • Review and recommend tasks to mitigate mechanical integrity risk, and
    • Provide subject matter expertise for mechanical integrity of static (fixed) equipment.
  • Maintain effective working relationships and communication with business teams to eliminate or minimize material and corrosion issues,
  • Monitor latest developments in inspection/materials and corrosion technology, via inter-affiliate technology transfers, network communications and meetings,
  • Provide quality assurance on project construction and maintenance works to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and specifications, and
  • Conduct reviews and/or updates on Materials Suitability Reviews and Equipment Strategies to ensure equipment reliability.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Material or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in static/fixed equipment engineering or inspection role.
  • Experience in a petrochemical or refining manufacturing plant or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of applicable international and local codes and standards for pressure vessel, piping and tankage (ASME Sec VIII, B31.3, API 510, 570, 579),
    • Knowledgeable in mechanical integrity and risk-based inspection, and
    • Knowledge of metallurgy and corrosion associated with refinery/petrochemical process,
    • Knowledge of materials selection, Non-Destructive Examination techniques, welding and risk-based inspection procedures, and
    • Capable of effectively driving milestone planning for Equipment Strategy development with key members from various functions.
  • Experience in international projects, multi-national company (MNC), Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) or JV is an advantage.

  • Fluent in speaking and writing English.
  • Willingness for 1-2 year’s short-term relocation, if required.
