Description

Reporting to the Chief of Security (CoS) within the Shared Service Center (SSC), the Deputy Chief of Security is responsible for :

  • Ensuring that UNOPS security support is included in all aspects of the programming process at regional and country office level as well as throughout individual project life cycles, from project identification, planning, security/risk assessment, budgeting, implementation monitoring, evaluation and project closure – with emphasis at pre-engagement;
  • Strengthening the security arrangements of UNOPS offices globally and operations, in line with UNSMS policies;
  • In addition to UNOPS global responsibilities, s/he may be required to support security operations and incident response at UN City Copenhagen or Denmark, and act as the UN Chief Security Adviser for Denmark in accordance with the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) Policy Framework.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in management, international politics or equivalent or formal multi-year education in security management, such as military or police senior Command and Staff College qualification with command experience at senior level,

  • Current relevant Professional Certification is an advantage, e.g. in Security Management, Physical Security, Investigations, Project Management, etc.
Experience:

  • At least 8 years of experience and progressive roles in security management, law enforcement or national military service, of which at least 3 years should have been with the UN Security Management System and at least 2 years experience in a crisis environment while serving in the UN system.
Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in other UN languages like French or Spanish or Arabic is an advantage.
