IRC Background:

The IRC in Salt Lake City opened its doors in 1994 since resettling over 11,000 refugees and providing a breadth of services and programming to educate and empower refugees and other New Americans.

 

Position Overview: 

The Finance Specialist will be responsible for essential accounting functions for the Salt Lake City, Utah office including accounts payable and accounts receivable. This position will also provide support to the Missoula, Montana office. This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Coordinator.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and process all check requests using Integra (Microsoft Dynamics 365) software in an accurate and timely manner ;
  • Submit all non-client related accounts payable requests for payment, including non-purchase order and recurring invoices ;
  • Process accounts receivable (AR) including reconciling and making deposits, preparing accompanying journal entries, and updating AR tracking sheets ;
  • Assist in monthly bank reconciliation ;
  • Assist in the month end closing process ;
  • Assist with preparing monthly billings and assembling documentation ;
  • Prepare monthly time and effort reports ;
  • Maintain finance files, electronic and physical, in an orderly manner ;
  • Assist with audit and monitoring preparations ;
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team ;
  • Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency ;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • An Associate of Arts degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience ;
  • A minimum of two years professional experience ;
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and other accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365/Integra a plus ;
  • Well-organized, high attention-to-detail ;
  • Excellent English communication skills-both verbal and written ;
  • Experience with accounting and bookkeeping procedures preferred ;
  • Previous non-profit agency experience preferred ;
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member ;
  • Enthusiasm about working in a multi-cultural setting ;
  • Self direction, initiative, and follow up skills to ensure work is accurate and deadlines are met ;
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks, error free, in a fast-paced environment.

 

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment, considerable time at the desk and computer.
