Pre-Employment Testing Required

ExxonMobil is currently seeking Lab Equipment Specialist personnel to work at its Beaumont (BMRF) Plant. This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires a pre-employment assessment.  Both experience and entry-level candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Job Role Summary

A Laboratory Equipment Specialist is responsible to perform tests according to specified methods in a safe and accurate manner. The technician is also responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing laboratory engines and those online engines on the gasoline blenders. Additional responsibilities include maintenance of composite samplers and monitoring operations of other online analyzers used in gasoline blending.

Primary Job Functions
  • Operates testing engines (in Lab and online) to generate results for research octane, motor octane, and cetane numbers in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Maintains online analyzer used for product certification.
  • Performs analytical methods to produce safe and accurate data.
  • Uses basic hand tools to assemble and disassemble internal combustion engines.
  • Reviews summary reports and mitigate any outstanding samples.
  • Becomes proficient in the use of the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Tests statistical quality control (SQC), check samples as required, and takes appropriate action for out of control results.
  • Records test results accurately and completely as required by Quality Practices & Guidelines and Data Integrity Assurance Framework.
  • Checks calibration frequency on designated instruments/equipment and calibrates as required.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and good laboratory housekeeping.
  • Maintains instruments/equipment as required by the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Communicates testing issues to First Line Supervisor, completes proper paperwork, and resolves any issues.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Two year degree of process operating technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in maintaining, troubleshooting samples for research octane, motor octane, and cetane number preferred.
  • Candidate should have mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of on-line analyzers and instrumentation is beneficial.
