Job Overview: The Employment Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of programming that assists newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment by guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and other career advancement services.  The Employment Coordinator builds strong employer relationships, serves a client caseload, coordinates quality assurance efforts, and may train and manage team members.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly supervise a team of employment specialists focused on entry-level employment; provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, training and support to employment staff, interns and volunteers. Advise staff regarding issues pertinent to quality client services.
  • Collaborate with career development services coordinator, program manager and all direct service staff to ensure coordination of economic empowerment and other IRC services
  • Establish and cultivate long-term relationships with area employers and staffing agencies to identify appropriate employment opportunities for clients.  Coordinate corporate and employer engagement opportunities and events.
  • Develop program protocols in accordance with IRC and donor requirements, establishing and meeting job placement and related program goals.  Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Build and maintain relationships with area service providers.
  • Conduct intake, assessment and provide program orientation to clients eligible for employment services.  Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult.  Provide job readiness and job search coaching and training and connect clients with job opportunities.
  • Detail each client interaction in accordance with program requirements. Input client information in database(s), tracking and reporting as needed.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with IRC and donor requirements.  Monitor intake and enrollment trends, quality of service provisions and timeliness and accuracy of case file documentation.
  • Assist clients and employers as necessary with post-placement issues and continuing employment needs.
  • Contribute to program and business development efforts
  • Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
