This is a role requiring strong contract management skills, excellent judgment to support challenging situations, sound commercial acumen and contractor/vendor management skills. The Contract Manager shall be supporting the Iberia Construction Director during pre-construction, construction and O&M stages.

Activities

  •   During pre-construction stage:
  • Assists the Construction Director and the Head of Legal in preparing, coordinating, reviewing, drafting and negotiating all aspects of the EPC/BOS, O&M and supply contracts (modules, inverters, trackers, mounting structures, HV transformers, etc.);
  • Supports the Construction Director in the preparation and coordination of RFPs for EPC/BOS contractors selection, main equipment and external services;
  • Collects and registers all contractual-related lessons learned from previous projects and share knowledge across the organization;
  • Supports in the elaboration and follow-up of suppliers and subcontractors’ contracts in order to make sure that a back-to-back approach is implemented with respect to other project agreements (for instance, PPAs).
  • Supports Construction Director, Head of Legal and Business Development team during project finance structuring process.
  • During execution stage (in coordination with the respective EPC Project Managers):
  • Supports the project (s) execution start-up through contract analysis of the different project documents (PPA, EPC/BOP, main equipment supply agreements, O&M contract, etc.).
  • Implementation of project specific contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence and notifications.
  • Ensure proper notices are given in line with the respective project documents contractual requirements.
  • Management of changes and claims to / from customers and EPC partners.
  • Provides support and guidance to the EPC project team on general contractual issues. Clarification of contractual and legal queries, if required in coordination with Legal department.
  • Ensures a smooth transition from EPC stage to O&M and the O&M team during the warranty period.
 

Context and environment

 

Total Solar Ibérica develops, builds and operates solar projects in Iberia region, either with full ownership or with partners in JVs. This position is located in Madrid office (Spain).
This will involve coordination with other Iberia central operation functions such as legal, finance, business development, project development, technical managers, EPC project managers, etc.
 

Accountabilities

 

The role’s primarily responsibility is to ensure a) a solid contracting and procurement strategy is implemented for each project and b) all execution phase related project documents are properly managed during execution stage.

Candidate profile

  • Master’s Degree in one of the following: law, business administration, engineering, finance.
  • At least five (5) years of experience within the renewable energy industry working as contract manager for an EPC Contractor or well-known IPP/Project Developer;
  • Solid experience in claim management, contract drafting and the ability to identify and understand critical points.
  • High ability to assimilate contractual and legal issues quickly. Familiarity with Spanish applicable law and FIDIC construction contracts is a plus.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English; Knowledge of French and Portuguese is desirable but not a must;
  • Ability to work individually and as a team;
  • Good interpersonal and strong communication skills with high analytical skills a willingness to challenge others. Good listener.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned country/region as required.
