Total recrute un Spécialiste de la gestion des produits et des affaires réglementaires, Suisse

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join our Trading Operations and Logistics department in Geneva.

Reporting to the Product Stewardship Manager, you will support the product regulatory compliance  of Total T&S, helping the business lines to comply with local products regulations, corporate policies and standards. The perimeter is essentially related to the European zone with chemical regulations such as REACH, CLP, Poison Centres, PIC… but also to Asia Pacific or the Americas to help other offices complying with REACH-like regulations coming into force. Collaborating with more than 200 trading operators and physical traders worldwide, you will ensure the permanent availability of regulatory, quality and safety expertise for all T&S’s traded petroleum products and crude, in alignment with Total T&S business strategy.
Your main missions will be:

§ Regulatory compliance

  • Ensure proper compliance to chemicals regulations (REACH, CLP, Poison Centres, PIC, HNS convention).
  • Manage the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) portfolio of Total T&S, from SDS creation to their distribution in the supply chain.
  • Prepare the Poison Centres notifications for mixtures placed on the market according to CLP Annex VIII.
  • Support the in-house REACH volume tracking and organise the REACH dossier updates with new analytical datasets.
  • Maintain and improve in-house procedures and IT tools for regulatory compliance (3rd party SDS collection, REACH import checks…).
  • Prepare regulatory submissions, reporting or declarations according to business needs and established procedures.

§ Operational support

  • Day to day support to traders and trading operators on import issues, product safety issues, off-spec products…
  • Maintain strong networks and good communication with the business to anticipate issues and propose solutions.
  • Provide trainings to relevant personnel on regulatory compliance.
  • Manage (sometimes-conflicting) stakeholder requirements and expectations.

§ Regulatory surveillance and advocacy

  • Ensure a regulatory watch to anticipate changing regulations that may affect Total T&S business activities.
  • Communicate where relevant with authorities, scientific bodies, or other institutions to determine strategies and a path forward regarding Total T&S product compliance efforts. May represent the business in product stewardship trade associations and participate in task oriented working groups.
  • Align the global product stewardship strategy with the other branches of the Total Group and maintain good relationships.

Accountabilities:

The regulatory environment is more and more complex and raises challenges to the industry. The objective is to ensure that the business activity of Total T&S complies with all applicable chemicals regulations, and to facilitate the development of new businesses (regulatory wise) in new regions or new markets.
The role of product stewardship is to positively contribute to the Group brand name regarding health, safety and environment, and to overcome the growing regulatory complexity to enable businesses and create opportunities.

Context and environment

As part of your missions, you will be liaising permanently:

  • within Total T&S with trading operators, traders, contracts coordination, loss control, legal, shipping, barging …
  • within the Total Group with Marketing-Services and Refining-Chemicals for products supplies and the product stewardship network
  • with third parties suppliers and customers, storage terminals
  • With peers, externals bodies or association such as CONCAWE or EBOTA for advocacy.

Candidate profile

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or other equivalent science degrees, e.g. toxicology, biology, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental sciences.
  • Previous experience as product stewardship/regulatory affairs professional in context of international chemicals legislations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, autonomous, analytical & synthesis skills, accuracy, high ethics and safety leadership.
  • Fluent in English, French and any other language considered as a plus.
