We are hiring on a new position opened on the Chartering desk. This role is closely linked to the recent development of tracking activities and is therefore a unique opportunity to demonstrate your ability to build an innovative framework of short term analysis.

Activities:

  • Track vessels movements on the international shipping market using the internal tracking platform with data from external shipbrokers and consultants, in-house algorithms and charterers.
  • Lead the development of the innovative in-house tracking platform in collaboration with IT Developers and Charterers with the final purpose to increase the value generated by tracking activities.
  • Develop and circulate market analyses such as short term shipping supply and demand balances, fixtures reports or positioning lists.
  • Publish regular reports on key market indicators such as floating storage evolution or export tracking by type of vessel and geographic area.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from Shipping SVP, Economic Studies and Projects Manager, Charterers or Traders.
  • Assist other Shipping Analysts in updating quantitative models for shipping markets and preparing COMEX presentations.

Context and environment

  • Fast paced front office trading environment.
  • You will physically join the Chartering desk at the heart of the trading floor.
  • You will interact on a daily basis with Spot and Time Charterers and Trading Market Analysts and also on occasion directly with Traders

Purposes:

  • Provide market analysis and short term economic studies for Shipping top management and charterers to assist their decision-making.

Candidate profile

  • ​​​​Educated to a Master’s degree level you will have a solid foundation in market analysis and/or shipping financing.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Bi is a prerequisite and knowledge of Python and SQL programming is a plus.
  • You will have good analytical, synthetic and research skills, as well as people skills, rigour, organisation and the ability to work independently.
