Responsibilities:

  • Support overall project leadership and strategy; works collaboratively with the Chief of Party to create and implement a strategic, long term programmatic vision.
  • Represent the program for client and counterpart meetings and events, as needed.
  • Supports and oversees workplan and budget development and implementation.
  • Supervise staff and build systems for professional development.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the COP; serve as Acting COP as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in climate science, environmental engineering, economics, public policy, business administration, or a similar degree;
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience leading the operations of complex, international development programs or donor-funded programs of similar scale, scope, and complexity;
  • Minimum of three years of experience overseeing grants and subcontracts programs required;
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
    • Climate finance;
    • Private sector climate investment;
    • Climate adaptation and mitigation;
    • Human and institutional capacity building;
    • Public financial management;
    • Blended finance.
  • Strong managerial, administrative, writing skills and M&E experience is preferred.
  • Practical experience working with a range of program partners, including regional, national, and subnational government entities, multilateral climate funds, financial institutions, civil society, local communities, and the private sector.
  • Experience working on USAID- and donor-funded programs preferred.
  • Experience working on/with regional or multi-country programs with multiple offices and sites preferred.
  • Work experience in Pacific Island Countries preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English both verbally and in writing.
