Job Description

The TOTAL Group’s Gas, Renewables and Power (GRP) branch is dedicated to low-carbon energies in downstream gas, in renewable energy and in the field of energy efficiency.

Total targets 35 GW of a renewable generation capacity in 2025 and will continue to expand its business to become a leading international player in renewable energies. The Wind technology development (all types of wind technologies: Floating Offshore, Fixed-Bottom Offshore and Onshore Wind) is one of the axes of this ambition. In order to support this ambition, Total is looking for an engineer floating substructure and mooring system.

Your mission will be to contribute to design improvements for floating substructures, mooring systems and load assessment and ensure close collaboration working with the Wind business unit, floating offshore wind (FOW) project development and operations and maintenance team as well as to manage subcontractors.

The role will be based in Paris.

As an engineer floating substructure and mooring system, you will have the following responsibilities:

Generic concept and pre-bid studies
•     Validate the floater / fixed structure concepts constructability, contribute to environmental studies.
•     Identify the supply chains, provide recommendation of fabrication and assembly strategy.
•     Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems.

Project support FOW projects
•     Support project teams regarding construction expertise as well as Total’s R&D program.
•     Establish DEVEX, CAPEX, OPEX assumptions.
•     Support and manage the floater / fixed structures construction interfaces and input to other packages (WTG, …).
•     Participate in and facilitate yard and transport contractor RFI and tenders.
•     Follow the construction and critical operations, plan and execute the upgrades, analyze fatigue, marine foundations etc.
•     Coordinate material and design improvements for anchoring and mooring systems (barge, semi-submersible, spar, TLP..)
•     Supervise transportation logistics, sub-contractors.

Development of expertise
•     Develop design and construction processes, capitalize the know-how, produce in house construction/installation practices, develop, maintain, and update engineering standards.
•     Build internal expertise, subcontractor network, contribute to modelling of annual energy production of offshore wind farms,
•     Identify trends, emerging technology advancements, business applications and potential partnerships/acquisitions.
•     Represent TOTAL in national and international R&D projects, consortia, standardization committees etc.

Candidate profile

Master degree or PhD in engineering.
More than 10 years working experience in offshore project development; offshore wind experience could be an advantage.
Fluency in English and French.
