Positioning and reportingUnder the authority of the Deputy Director General (International Standards and Science) and the supervision of the Head of Department (HoD).
Job purposeThe Scientific Coordinator in the Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Products (AMR & VP) Department contributes to the scientific excellence of the Organisation’s work in support of the responsible and prudent use of antimicrobials and the quality of veterinary products, The Scientific Coordinator will actively participate in the delivery of the OIE Strategy on Antimicrobials Resistance and Prudent Use of Antimicrobials and the activities of the OIE Working Group in collaboration with other team members of the AMR & VP Department. He/she contributes to promoting the position of the OIE on the topics, in particular through collaboration with OIE’s partner organisations, relevant international networks and academia.

 

Missions and activitiesContribute to providing scientific input to the work of the Department

·       Promote the OIE mandate and represent the OIE in relevant international conferences, missions, meetings, workshops and projects.

·       Provide topic specific advice and/or scientific information on matters related to AMR.

In collaboration with other team members, provide secretariat functions for the OIE Working Group on antimicrobial resistance, manage related ad hoc Groups and coordinate expert advice.

·       Ensure follow up and contribute to the implementation of the work programme of the AMR Working Group.

·       Further develop and refine the OIE List of antimicrobials of Veterinary Importance.

·       Contribute to drafting papers, articles and other relevant materials for OIE publications and communication, including updates of the OIE website.

·       Participate in relevant projects and meetings to represent the OIE and support the implementation of the AMR related standards and guidelines.

·       Interact with academia and subject matter experts.

·       Participate in relevant Tripartite technical projects on AMR, in particular in projects related to the environment.

 

Expériences / Formation

 

Qualifications and ExperienceRequired qualifications

·       A post-graduate degree in Veterinary Science or related degree in biological or medical fields

·       At least 10 years of professional experience in the field of antimicrobial resistance and quality of veterinary products

·       At least 5 years of experience in an international environment

Additional qualification and experience (assets)

·       Exposure to or experience with national Veterinary Services

·       Exposure to the work of International Organisations.

Requirements

Technical skills

·       Proven knowledge in animal health and antimicrobial resistance

·       Understanding and experience in scientific projects

·       Excellent writing skills and ability to summarise complex technical discussions into clear and concise reports

·       Ability to work in English at a high level including excellent oral and written communication skills

·       Good computer skills in a Microsoft environment.

 

Additional skills (assets)

·       Good working knowledge a third OIE official language (Spanish or French)

·       Strong understanding of and commitment to Good Regulatory Practices

·       Familiarity with the OIE Codes and Manuals

 

Interpersonal skills

·       Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, presentations)

·       Organisational awareness: strong ability to establish priorities and work within tight timelines

·       Attention to detail and capacity for global overview

Salaire

 

Salary: between 3200-3500 € / month (depending on experience)Contract: 2 years (renewable)
Working conditionsThe post is a full-time position based at the OIE Headquarters in Paris. It requires long hours in a seated position at a computer. The position entails regular missions abroad.
