Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship

As a Young Graduate Trainee, you will follow the day-to-day operations of the Launch Base (e.g. payload spacecraft processing and preparation – EPCUs). In addition, you will be involved in key aspects of the modernisation/enhancement of Europe’s Spaceport by supporting the relevant team projects.

As such, your duties will include:

  • Launch Base operations:
  1. Follow-up of activities performed in preparation for a launch. This will enable the development of technical skills relating to all Launch Range ground systems to perform final chronology (e.g. participation in the operations meeting for Launch Base configuration review – CLM, RPBs);
  2. Follow-up of activities performed for the final preparation of the spacecraft (in payload processing facilities – EPCU). This will enable the development of technical skills relating to spacecraft final operations before launch (assembly integration and testing).
  • Support for selected Range development projects (e.g. selected digitalisation and decarbonation projects) with detailed follow-up with CNES team(s) of project implementation within the project management framework (quality, cost, risks and delay) and participating in reviews/key point and progress meetings with the key partners of the Launch Base. This will enable the development of project management skills.

Education

You should have just completed, or be in the final year of your Master’ s degree in an engineering discipline (preferably aeronautical or digital engineering).

Additional requirements

You should have:

  • a strong interest in technical innovation
  • the ability to make solution-oriented, pragmatic and timely decisions

This position is based in French Guiana and you should therefore demonstrate adaptability and openness to change. Knowledge of French will be a clear asset.
